People Will Always Deny The Truth

Lately there's a lot of fuss going on after my dear friend David posted some controversial but true post on his blog. Immediately some 'pros' from the industry quickly took it personally and started defending themselves and shamelessly shooting back in facebook. A stream of blind faithful supporters quickly followed with their own brand of baseless accusations and even resorting to childish name calling. I'm not writing this because David is a dear friend. It's because I was a victim of one of this shameless unethical wedding pro. I will not dwell in what happened. The fact that I've gone through the ordeal of not being treated ethically and professionally by one of this fellow clearly speaks of the dire state of the wedding photo industry in Malaysia. And I've seen how he treated clients and other freelancers he hired. Its no pretty picture. Many will say that he's only one of the bad apple but that's speaking out of ignorance. David has done a good job listing down the hard facts and so I won't repeat what he wrote. For those who are interested you can go to his post by clicking here. Let's be honest here. I'm sure there are many of you who feel the same way as David and I about the wedding photo industry. I really respect David for daring to speak out and giving back dignity for us as visual artist (photo/video) who still hold on to our craft seriously and has not prostituted it for fame and money.

Well Said! Prostitutes or Artists??? Ask ourselves!!! No offence please, I do respect Prostitutes as human beings earning a living just like any other profession IF THEY DO IT HONESTLY. But Artists should have "Artist's Pride"! I will feel shameful if I am caught copying some other's works OR soliciting other photographer's clients OR not paying my assistants! We should all work towards being an ARTIST, NOT just someone who "prostitutes" for money.

I really hope others will stand out too.

David and Lee, Although I dunno they all, but I love the word "Artist pride" :) denying the truth is resulting in defending yourselves...

i agree cc. about time we return some dignity to a profession close to our hearts, yours even more.

coz while i may not have been aware about what's going on behind the scenes this whole time, on one hand there's always a limitation to how much we can achieve when battling against people wif no honour, but on the other hand we cannot just sit back and not do anything.

all the best cc! this industry deserves better people, and photographers that truly take pride in their works and not their 'schemes'. wif u n ur friend all e way.
