Olympus/Panasonic has announced the new micro 4/3rd format to their already small dlsr 4/3rd format. Check out this link to read all the techie stuff http://www.dpreview.com/news/0808/08080501microfourthirds.asp#analysis
For me this is good news. It means the future of smaller camera with good quality low light image is possible. So far the market is plagued by small pro level compact with not so pro level low light image quality. Even sigma DP1 doesn't really make the cut. Don't even mention the Ricoh's GRD or the new Penasonic LX3. Both excellent cameras flawed only by their subpar low light image quality. Sorry I'm jumping the gun in making judgment of the yet to be realeased LX3. I may be wrong but I doubt so. I'm really looking forward for the possibilty of a truly pro level compact with good low light image quality. For now the closes for me is still the super small Olympus E420 with the tiny 25mm f2.8 pancake lens. Give me an even smaller camera and the same tiny 25mm but faster f1.8 pancake lens, you'll be sure of a customer when that camera is realeased.
